BT contract with CareTech to supply Telecare equipment
British Telecommunications plc (BT) has signed a three year contract with CareTech AB of Sweden to supply telecare products to support the growth of its telehealth and telecare business.
Telecare provides people with the ability to call for assistance in the event of accident, emergency or when support is required via a 24/7 manned response centre. The service enables individuals to live more independently and confidently in their own home for longer.
BT is already providing telecare and telehealth services to more than 12,000 people as part of its partnership with Cornwall Council, Cornwall Peninsula Health and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
CareTech is a leading supplier of care technology with carephones and telecare products that have have an established reputation for supporting independent living, primarily for older people. CareTech’s equipment portfolio ranges from analogue devices for standard domestic phone lines, IP devices compatible with BT’s Superfast broadband and GSM units which can operate where no telephone line is available. A wide range of telecare radio accessories provide alerts in the event of falls, smoke detection, flood, ‘wandering’, validation that medication has been dispensed or simply to confirm that someone is safe and secure.
Peter Shirley, Export Manager for CareTech said: “We are proud that BT selected CareTech in competition with the other vendors in this industry. BT’s decision to choose us as their telecare supplier for the UK and their international markets gives CareTech the opportunity to further build our reputation for delivering innovative telecare and strengthens our position as a leading, global provider of home care technology.”
